Overview
Gold Plating over Electroless Nickel Plating
Challenge

For products requiring gold plating over electroless nickel plating, plating delamination occurred after high-temperature soldering. The client was looking for a plating partner that could identify the root cause and implement corrective measures.

Solution Provided

Mitsuya inferred that hydrogen absorbed during pretreatment and plating was the likely cause of the delamination.
After prototyping and evaluation, no delamination occurred, resulting in improved quality.

Case

No actual plating case studies were found on Anoplate’s official website. This section provides a closer look at zinc-nickel plating (Zynik II), which Anoplate can provide.

Overview
Zinc-Nickel Plating
Challenge

As environmental impact became a concern, a more environmentally preferable plating alternative to cadmium was needed. Anoplate was working to design a new zinc-nickel plating process for high-performance corrosion protection in aerospace, defense, and industrial components.

Solution Provided

Anoplate designed Zynik II, a process centered on a 12–16% nickel deposit, to perform under conditions that alloys with lower zinc, cadmium, and nickel content could not withstand.
The company has installed a dedicated zinc-nickel plating line capable of processing parts up to 72 inches long, 28 inches wide, 43 inches deep, and 1 ton in weight, advancing the transition away from cadmium.
